Saturday Afternoon - Handcrafted Silver Pendant Workshop with Alice Bean Crayson
Join me for a two-hour workshop to create your own unique pendant or talisman using the ancient technique of lost wax casting.
No experience is needed. I’ll teach you how to shape your design from soft wax using your hands and a selection of provided tools. After the workshop, I’ll cast your piece in recycled sterling silver then finish, polish, and mount it on a chain (in your chosen length). Your finished pendant will be posted to you within three weeks - just in time to gift for the festive season! You can also have your piece gold plated for an additional £50.
This is a perfect opportunity to come with a friend or loved one and spend a creative couple of hours together... making matching pieces, or even designing something special to gift to each other. Handmade with your own touch, your pendant will make a thoughtful, one-of-a-kind present for Christmas or any special occasion.
Feel free to bring small textured objects such as a lucky stone, pressed flower, or piece of bark etc… if you’d like to experiment with taking an impression from them.
Things to Bring/materials required:
All you need is your hands to mould this malleable wax, your fingerprints will be immortalized in silver, feel free to bring along any textured objects/ small pieces if you’d like to experiment with and make an impression with (leaves, bits of bark, feathers etc.…). Prior to the class you may want to have a think about what shapes, or imagery inspires you, do bring along printouts of these and or sketches if you’d like. At the beginning of the class we will have a chat, flick through some books/ printouts/ pieces I have shaped to serve as inspiration and have a draw.
