Wednesday Morning - Craft two beautiful Crepe Paper Poppies with Amanda Cox

Wednesday Morning – Craft two beautiful Crepe Paper Poppies with Amanda Cox

Step into the quiet abundance of late spring and create your own flower crown, inspired by the hedgerows and the fleeting beauty of the season.

As blossom begins to soften and the leaves fully unfurl, we find ourselves at that gentle turning point, where spring gives way to the fullness of early summer. It’s a moment often felt more than marked, held in the lengthening days and the richness of the landscape around us.

Hawthorn, long associated with this turning of the season, has been seen as a marker of threshold moments, when one phase gives way to another.

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to craft a refined half-crown using traditional floristry techniques of wiring and taping. Your crown will be finished with ribbon, allowing you to wear it across the forehead or as a soft alice band, light, comfortable, and entirely your own.

We will work with a gentle, nature-led palette of soft whites, blush, warm apricot and fresh greens, echoing the hedgerow in bloom. Materials are chosen for their beauty, movement and the season. Many cultures and folklore have women wearing flower crowns at this moment in the year to celebrate burgeoning nature and the warmth as summer approaches.

This is a calm, creative space where you will have time to slow down, work with your hands, and connect with the season in a simple, meaningful way and be able to wander home feeling the joy of wearing flowers in your hair.

You’ll leave with:

  • Your own handcrafted flower crown

  • Traditional floristry techniques you can return to

  • A quiet connection to the season and its subtle shift
